GICO aims to develop a highly efficient renewable energy technology with the thermal gasification of woody biomass and biogenic residues.
In the carbonate looping process, a hydrogen-rich synthesis gas is produced by sorption-assisted gasification. The synthesis gas is then converted to methanol or to electricity in a fuel cell.
Calida Cleantech GmbH is working on synthesis gas purification. This involves the combined separation of fine dust, the catalytic cracking of tar components and the high-temperature sorption of S, Cl and alkali impurities to produce a high-purity synthesis gas.
